A lot of spiritual beings participated in my ancestral ritual at my Dojang

The following is a first-hand account of a practitioner about her experiences during her ancestral ritual(Cheondosik).

This is what I experienced while chanting the Chilseonggyeong Scripture Mantra during the ancestral ritual held in the Busan Jungang Dojang. I saw my late father come into the shrine followed by my late mother, as well as my grandparents. Though I had never seen my grandmother in my whole life, her image was so clear and vivid, just as if looking at someone living, standing in front of me. A little later, I could see my three ancestors moving about with a beautiful bouquet of flowers in their hands, surrounded by female immortals moving around in a circle, too.

Then, suddenly, exit number 5 of the Jungangdong subway station appeared to me. At either side of the subway entrance stood a male figure in ‘Satto’ (a village chief during the Joseon Dynasty) attire. What followed then was a countless number of people exiting from the subway entrance and coming into the shrine of the Dojang leaving no empty seat. (The narrator’s son currently works at the Busan Metropolitan Subway Service.)

The two men in ‘Satto’ uniform arrived at the Dojang only after all the other people had already come in. I saw some participants wearing Native American headdresses. At the end of the ancestral ritual, most of the spiritual beings left the Dojang through the entrance. My ancestors ascended to heaven passing through the center, between the Domonim and the ancestral spirits’ altars, escorted by female immortals holding bouquets of flowers.
